Position Title: Early Childhood Specialist
Department: Educational Services
Report to: Director of Educational Services
Job Summary: Provide high quality consultation, support and education to family/group family and center child care providers. Implement grant-generated educational programs when available. Maintain lending library for agency members. Contribute to Provider Newsletter. Create and deliver workshops as needed for off-site training and for training catalog. Participate in activities to promote knowledge about quality childcare and early childhood education programs to the community.
Skill Requirements: Knowledge and understanding of child care programs and OCFS regulations. Good communication skills both in person and on the phone. Willing to work as a team with other members of the department, as well as with staff from other departments in the agency. Ability to work with computerized systems to maintain database and perform internet searches. Able to multi-task, balancing work load and independent projects.
Responsibilities:
- Provide telephone and e-mail technical assistance to licensed and registered programs, and relative or non-regulated caregivers, parents and community members on child development and regulatory issues
- Maintain Lending Library available to all Child Care Council members (providers, parents, businesses, community agencies)
- Implement grant-generated educational programs (ie. NAP SACC) when available
- Contribute to a Provider Newsletter
- Develop and implement workshops for family/ group family/center staff for training catalog and off-site trainings.
- Generate reports as needed for the department
- Provide assistance to other department staff
- Participate in a team-oriented work environment while valuing individual team members’ contributions, appreciation for diversity and confidentiality standards of the agency.
- Participate in department and agency staff meetings and trainings; participate in planning and implementation of department/agency strategic plan and customer service standards.
- Attend workshops, in-house trainings, phone conferences, webinars and other meetings
- Perform other work related duties as requested
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Minimum Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred, in early childhood or related field; at least 3 years of experience; at least 3 years experience in a child care setting providing direct service to children; some experience providing Training and/or Technical Assistance in the area of child development or early childhood education.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse community
- Knowledge and willingness to learn about childcare, early education options, issues, regulations, and child development
- Exhibits proactive problem solving skills
- Knowledge of basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Internet Explorer, and various office machines (copier, Fax, printers).
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- This position requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time, keyboarding, and phone use.
- Travel to various locations may be occasionally required.
- Occasional evening or weekend work is required; presence required at some off-site functions and trainings.

Wanted: Director for New Day Care Center in Selden Must be warm and caring, and demonstrate a positive and energetic relationship with the children and families Classroom time is expected
Responsibilities will include: 1. 5 years of experience in the field 2. All required training and education for approval as a Director 3. Ability to help grow the program from a starting point in conjunction with owners 4. Ability to open or close on various days to maintain positive contact with the parents 5.
