Infant Toddler Specialist
Job Summary: Provide high quality consultation, support and education to family/group family and center child care providers with a focus on care of infants and toddlers. Implement grant-generated educational programs when available. Contribute to Provider Newsletters. Create and deliver workshops as needed for off-site training and for on-site training catalog. Participate in activities to promote knowledge about quality infant and toddler care programs to the community.
Skill Requirements: Knowledge and understanding of infant/toddler care, child care programs and OCFS regulations. Good communication skills both in person and on the phone. Willing to work as a team with other members of the department, as well as with staff from other departments in the agency. Ability to work with computerized systems to maintain database and perform internet searches. Able to multi-task, balancing work load and independent projects.
Responsibilities:
- Provide telephone and e-mail technical assistance to licensed and registered programs, and relative or non-regulated caregivers, parents and community members on child development, regulatory issues and specialized care for infants and toddlers.
- Implement grant-generated educational programs when available
- Contribute to a Provider Newsletter
- Develop and implement workshops for family/ group family/center staff for training catalog and off-site trainings.
- Generate reports as needed for the department
- Provide assistance to other department staff
- Participate in a team-oriented work environment while valuing individual team members’ contributions, appreciation for diversity and confidentiality standards of the agency.
- Participate in department and agency staff meetings and trainings; participate in planning and implementation of department/agency strategic plan and customer service standards.
- Attend workshops, in-house trainings, phone conferences, webinars and other meetings
- Participate in functions of the NYS Early Care and Learning Council Infant Toddler Network
- Work collaboratively with the Child Care Council of Nassau to develop the Theory of Change Model for the Long Island Region.
- Maintain professional resources that include books, videos, pamphlets, brochures, etc. that promote best practices for infant toddler care.
- Perform other work related duties as requested
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree. Master’s Degree preferred, in early childhood or related field; at least 3 years experience in a child care setting providing direct service to infants and toddlers; some experience providing Training and/or Technical Assistance in the area of child development or early childhood education.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse community
- Knowledge and willingness to learn about specialized care for infants and toddlers, childcare, early education options, issues, regulations, and child development
- Exhibits proactive problem solving skills
- Knowledge of basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Internet Explorer, and various office machines (copier, Fax, printers).
- Ability to adapt to new technologies in delivery of services.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- This position requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time, keyboarding, and phone use.
- Travel to various locations throughout Suffolk County will be required.
- Occasional evening or weekend work is required; presence required at some off-site functions and trainings.
- Ability to lift presentation equipment in and out of care is required.
- Occasional overnight travel to other parts of NYS may be required (at agency expense)

Starbright Children’s Center, Center Moriches Job Description Infant Assistant Teacher
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Infant Assistant Teacher provides support to the lead teacher in the classroom. This may involve providing leadership on a one-to-one basis or working with groups of individuals as the instructor in program activities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
This position comes under the direct supervision of his or her Head Teacher. The Assistant Teacher is responsible for the following and carrying out all the workplace expectations and policies of the Starbright Children’s Center’s employee handbook, parent handbook and all other regulations set forth by the Office of Children and Family Services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The essential duties for the Assistant Teacher include but not limited to: · Aids Lead Teacher and demonstrates knowledge, skills, and ability in specific areas of expertise, namely, early childhood education for 6 weeks to 18 months old · Follows the philosophy of the program and implements program specifications as directed by the Director. · Supervise the classroom to meet program objectives concerning education standards, quality, safety, and cleanliness. · Maintain classroom areas by cleaning up after activities. · Prepare snack and clean up after snack. · To issue, receive, maintain, and inventory preschool equipment. · To maintain attendance and activity reports. · Implement Positive Child guidance and intervention supports · Lead activities under the direction of the lead teacher. · Positively and successfully perform tasks within work team dynamics · Attends meetings as required by Director. · Keeps accurate accident/incident records and timesheets. Reports all accidents/incidents immediately to Director. · Attend trainings in order to meet state certification requirements. · Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to: · Communicate courteously and cooperatively with other staff and the general public, on the telephone or in person, including handling difficult or irate people. · Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, other staff members, program participants and the general public. · Interpret, explain, follow, and apply policies and written instructions. · Perform general clerical work including maintenance of attendance records. · Work with minimal supervision. · Maintain a neat, professional appearance. · Speak clearly and concisely, in English, both verbally and in written form. · Lift small children and equipment.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
· 15 hours of Early Childhood Education Courses within 6 months of hire date and a total of 30 hours within each licensing period (2 years.) Current First Aid and Infant/Child CPR Certification · Must be 18 years of age or older.
PHYSICAL SKILLS:
Duties are performed indoors and outdoors. Requires standing and walking for long periods of time. Incumbent is typically exposed to noises and interruptions, including sudden loud noises, and multiple voices within a crowded environment. The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention all the time. Physical exertion may be to lift and carry small children.

School Age Child Care Site Director – To run an after school site, supervise staff, develop and implement activities, etc. Site Director will work Monday through Friday from 3:20PM – 6:20PM. Other hours / opportunities may become available.
Responsibilities Include:
Supervise elementary school age children and staff in an After School program.
Monitor children during activities and interact with the children to enhance their learning
Delivery of Direct Services
Develop and implement programmatic activities
Supports programmatic initiatives within YES and the communities it serves.
Submits required reports and all required paperwork accurately and in a timely fashion.
Enters data from site onto the YES Programmatic database system.
Become fully knowledgeable of all SACC regulations that apply to YES after school programs
Ensures site is following YES protocols and adhering to SACC regulations.
Stays abreast of changes and best practices in Program delivery and ensures that program site are in compliance with written policies, protocols, and procedures are being that reflect these practices.
Basic Skills and Qualifications:
Previous experience working with youth.
Previous experience supervising staff.
Must be well organized, self-directed and a team player.
Strong work ethic, unquestionable reputation for honesty and integrity. Must have the ability to maintain utmost confidentiality at all times.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Education, Sociology, Human Services, Behavioral Sciences or related field
Bilingual English / Spanish a plus
