Food Stamps

Working hard but still struggling to make ends meet? Food stamp benefits can help you put food on the table. Higher income guidelines mean that more working families with dependent care expenses are now eligible for food stamps. You may qualify now even if you were denied in the past.

The New York State Food Stamp Program may provide you with monthly benefits on a debit card that can be used like cash at authorized retail food stores.

It’s Easy to Find Out if You May be Eligible for Food Stamps

Eligibility and benefit levels are based on household size, income, assets and other factors. Visit myBenefits.ny.gov and click Am I eligible? to check your eligibility for food stamp and other benefits.

How Do I Apply for Food Stamps?

You can now apply for food stamps online, by mail, fax, or in person at your local Department of Social Services.

Apply online by going to mybenefits.ny.gov and click on Apply for Benefits.

Information about applying by mail, fax or in person can be found here.
