The Infant and Toddler Mental Health (ITMH) Consultant will be a member of the Child Care Council of Suffolk’s Department of Professional Development and work as part of the team to promote healthy growth in young children by supporting quality early childhood opportunities.  The ITMH Consultant will promote positive mental health and social and emotional development of infants and toddlers in early childhood settings.  The ITMH Consultant will not be providing direct therapeutic services to children in this role; rather, the Consultant will focus on building the capabilities, skills and mental health competencies of the early care and education staff and caregivers. More info...

  Brief Description of Duties:  
This is an early childhood team teaching position based in a preschool multi-age classroom at Stony Brook Child Care Services, Inc.  The goal is to provide high quality care and education to children ranging in age 3 - 5 years.  Additionally, the Center is a practicum site for undergraduate interns who will be supervised and mentored by this staff person.

Position Overview

An important program at many of our Family Shelters is the Day Care/Early Learn program to help children who are impacted by homelessness.  As Childcare Aide, you’ll play an important role in helping the children at one of our sites continue to learn and develop despite the hardships encountered by their families. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Teachers and Assistant Teachers with facilitation of educational curriculum and implementation of lesson plans and daily activity schedules.
  • Keeping equipment accessible and in good, clean, sanitized condition and removing and reporting damaged or unsafe equipment.
  • Meeting and greeting the children and their families daily and encouraging families to volunteer and participate in their children’s program.


  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with preschool age children.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office applications. 
  • US Driver's license

Summer Camp Counselor - July 5- August 27th M-F Full time, seasonal position (could lead to year round employment)


Engages children in interactive activities including organized arts and crafts, singing, sports activities & games  while maintaining a safe environment

Leads a group of up to campers ages with a fun, positive and outgoing attitude while acting as a role model

Demonstrates positive attitude and actions through a display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity, and professionalism to internal and external customers

Maintains cleanliness and order of camp in order to ensure safety

Promotes monthly events and activities in order to increase participation


Our program is expanding and we are seeking part time leading to full time, year round employee with experience working with infants and toddlers. Must have experience working with children under 2 in a daycare setting. Must be available m-f & the summer months! Preference given to those who have obtained or pursuing a CDA, Bachelors in Early Education, Child Study or Child Psych.


Daily responsibilities include, prepping projects/art, serving meals, interacting and playing with the children, reading stories, engaging in lesson plans & supervising students. Professional and upbeat demeanor required. Must be available until 5/6 pm. Email resume to please indicate availability & salary requirement.
