Bilingual (Spanish) Early Childhood Specialist

Job Summary: Provide high quality consultation, support and education to family/group family and center child care providers. Implement grant-generated educational programs when available. Maintain lending library for agency members. Contribute to Provider Newsletter. Create and deliver workshops as needed for off-site training and for training catalog. Participate in activities to promote knowledge about quality childcare and early childhood education programs to the community.

Skill Requirements: Fluent in Spanish language. Knowledge and understanding of child care programs and OCFS regulations. Good communication skills both in person and on the phone. Willing to work as a team with other members of the department, as well as with staff from other departments in the agency. Ability to work with computerized systems to maintain database and perform internet searches. Able to multi-task, balancing work load and independent projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide telephone and e-mail technical assistance to licensed and registered programs, and relative or non-regulated caregivers, parents and community members on child development and regulatory issues
  • Implement grant-generated educational programs when available
  • Contribute to a Provider Newsletter
  • Develop and implement workshops for family/group family/center staff for training catalog and off-site trainings.
  • Generate reports as needed for the department
  • Provide assistance to other department staff
  • Participate in a team-oriented work environment while valuing individual team members’ contributions, appreciation for diversity and confidentiality standards of the agency.
  • Participate in department and agency staff meetings and trainings; participate in planning and implementation of department/agency strategic plan and customer service standards.
  • Attend workshops, in-house trainings, phone conferences, webinars and other meetings
  • Perform other work related duties as requested

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred, in early childhood or related field; at least 3 years of experience in a child care setting providing direct service to children;
  • Bilingual Spanish is required
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse community
  • Knowledge and willingness to learn about childcare, early education options, issues, regulations, and child development
  • Exhibits proactive problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Internet Explorer, and various office machines (copier, fax, printers).

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • This position requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time, keyboarding, and phone use.
  • Travel to various locations will be required.

Occasional evening or weekend work is required; presence required at some off-site functions and trainings. This position is full-time, Monday thru Friday from 9am to 5pm.

THE CHILDREN"S COMMUNITY HEAD START BIRTH TO FIVE

Infant/Toddler Teacher needed for an Early Head Start Program

Responsibilities includes developing lesson plans for specific age groups, assessments of children, working with other staff to support the development of each child.

Minimum educational requirement: Infant/Toddler CDA or college degree with course work specific to infant-toddler development with at least one year of experience.

2 weeks paid vacation, paid sick/personal days, retirement plan, holiday pay, partial agency contribution for medical and dental benefits. Possibility of tuition reimbursement after 1 year of employment.

Must have a valid NYS drivers license, Bi-Lingual a plus!!

Home Visitor

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting Weekly Home Visits
  • Providing educational activities with parents and children in their home
  • Promoting the parent/caregiver as their child's first teacher
  • Working on family goals as well as providing families with information on community resources.

Home Visitor should have knowledge of early childhood development, social service agencies, and resources.

Applicants should a minimum of a Home Visitor CDA or an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Human Services; and/or related experience in the Health and Service area/Social Work and have training with children Birth through 5 and families. Reliable transportation is a must. Bilingual a plus.
