Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) ensures that children in child care settings receive nutritious, well-balanced meals. Through an agreement with the New York State Department of Health, Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc., serves as a sponsor for this federal program. We aim to improve the diet of children ages birth to 12 years of age, by providing training and offering a partial reimbursement to child care providers for the nutritious meals and snacks they serve.

Job Summary:

The Field Representative plays a critical role as the link between the sponsoring organizations and the day care home provider. They provide a first-hand accounting of how the providers are operating the Program. They must develop and maintain open communications and cooperative relationships with providers, while also identifying areas of noncompliance. They must work with the providers to help correct problems, provide additional training or technical assistance when necessary. They must ensure that providers operate according to Program rules and regulations, and that accurate records are available to justify reimbursement for properly served, nutritious meals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains current knowledge (e.g. best practices, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, securing general information, and/or responding to requests in regards to CACFP.
  • Attend all required functions of the Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc. and yearly mandatory CACFP trainings.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for compliance with CACFP guidelines and assists in inputting and filing monthly claims for reimbursement.
  • Conduct CACFP initial inspections and 28 day visits for new providers in Suffolk County in compliance with DOH Regulations.
  • Conduct at least three reviews of which two of the three reviews must be unannounced; and one unannounced review must include observation of a meal service; not more than four months may elapse between reviews in accordance with CCCS and not more than six months may elapse between reviews in accordance with DOH Regulations.
  • Assist providers by giving them technical assistance with the Kid Kare Program.
  • Responds to requests for information and assistance. Uses discretion to maintain confidentiality of records.
  • If a sponsor finds a provider has conducted one or more serious deficiencies, the next visit must be unannounced.
  • Assists in delivering information at meetings and trainings involving a range of issues for the purpose of conveying/gaining information, and/or representing the agency.
  • Assists in the preparation of materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written references, and/or conveying information.
  • Answering phone, filing, and other clerical duties.
  • Other related duties as assigned

General Qualifications:

  • High School or GED required. Associate’s degree preferred
  • 2-3 year general office experience
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and written with multi –cultural populations
  • Adaptable to changing work priorities; developing and maintaining positive working relationships; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; and setting priorities.
  • Must be willing to travel within Suffolk County and have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be flexible in order to meet the demands of the program
  • Well organized and takes initiative
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Experience with CACFP nutrition programs preferred

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • This position requires sitting at a computer desk and phone use.
  • Personal vehicle is required for travel with mileage reimbursed.
  • Presence required at some off-site functions and trainings.

This is a 5 day/week position, 9am-5pm, $15-17.00 hourly based on experience/qualifications.

Salary: $15.00 to $17.00 /hour

Supervisor - Suffolk County Children's Center

EAC Network is looking for a Supervisor for its Suffolk County Children Center located in Cohalan Court Complex in Central Islip. The position is Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm.  EAC Network offers excellent benefits medical/dental/401K and very generous Paid Time Off plan (PTO).  

Primary Purpose of Job:

The Supervisor is responsible for managing the staff/volunteers and daily operations of the Suffolk District Court Children’s Center at Cohalan Court Complex.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise staff and volunteers.

  2. Prepare and maintain statistical reports.

  3. Maintain schedule of staff and volunteers to ensure adequate program coverage.

  4. Apprise parents of program parameters and offer community referrals when necessary.

  5. Act as program liaison with Court employees, community partners and funders.

  6. Assist in grant writing and fundraising in conjunction with Division Director to ensure sustainability of program.

  7. Complete and conduct Employee Performance Review meetings with staff and coordinate in-service training.

    Knowledge, skills And Abilities Required:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education or a related field required. Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, preferred.

  2. Minimum of two years of relevant work experience required. 

  3. Knowledge of administrative procedures required.

  4. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with ability to handle emergency situations.

  5. Must have or acquire CPR and First Aid certification once hired.

  6. Able to lift small children and toddlers up to 50 pounds.

  7. Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
